Recomendaciones
- Passive Acclimatization: Dedicate the morning of Day 1 to absolute rest. Walk slowly, and avoid alcohol, tobacco, and heavy meals.
- Overnight Backpack: Prepare a small backpack (max 5 kg) with just the essentials (a change of clothes, toiletries) for your overnight stay in Aguas Calientes (Day 2).
- Luggage Storage: Leave your main large luggage at your Cusco hotel (at no cost) before departing for the Sacred Valley. You will get it back when you return on the evening of Day 3.
- Documents: Always carry your original passport. It is mandatory to present it to board the train and to access the Machu Picchu Citadel.
- Layered Clothing: Dress using the three-layer system (thermal base layer, fleece/jacket, windbreaker/raincoat). Temperatures at Vinicunca are very low in the early morning and at the summit.
- Hiking Footwear: Wear comfortable, waterproof hiking boots for the trek, as the trail can be muddy or snowy depending on the season.
- Energy & Snacks: Bring energy bars, nuts, or chocolate. The early breakfast is light, and you will need extra energy for the high-altitude hike.
- Optional Support: If you are not used to the altitude or are concerned about the physical effort, plan to bring cash (Peruvian Soles) to rent a horse and a local handler at the starting point of the Vinicunca trek.
- Cash (Soles): The Tourist Ticket is included, but bring Peruvian Soles for the entrance fees to the Cathedral and Qorikancha, tips, personal shopping, and for renting horses at Vinicunca.
- Punctuality: Tours in Cusco and the train operate on strict schedules. Be punctual for pick-up times to avoid delaying the group or missing any scheduled services.
